The basic criteria for assessing of tents are safety requirements and usable and functional properties. Usable and functional requirements are determined for camping tents according to DIN EN ISO 5912. For large tents and shelters, the properties are determined according to EN 15619.

Camping tents are classified into categories and levels according to weight and conditions of use.

Testing of used textile materials:

  • Testing of used textile materials:
  • Tear resistance
  • Tensile strength
  • Resistance to water penetration
  • Colour fastness
  • Resistance to puncture
  • Resistance to low-temperature bend
  • The change of dimensions
  • Flammability
  • Other functional properties of individual parts eg. zippers, constructional elements

Testing properties of the finished product:

  • weight
  • anchoring
  • ventilation
The manufacturer's documentation and labeling accuracy Fulfilment of the individual parameters Instructions for users Composition of the product profile customized to each specific type of use.
  • Incorrect or missing tent classification
  • Missing safety assessment of the flammability for tent shelters and marquees
  • Incorrect assessment of the tent suitability
